Well, I did it!  I finally got my Bachelor’s in Communication with a concentration in Public Relations from George Mason University.  It was an epic journey.  It was MY epic journey.  Working full time in the DC area in a fast-paced, super dynamic office for a senior executive WHILE going to school has been challenging and ultimately the most rewarding experience of my life.

I got to study abroad in London… work with some amazing teams…. learn some really cool stuff and now, I can’t wait to get started on a brand new career path.

That said, right now is the time to celebrate and I’m going to do so in a big way, folks!  I saved my pennies and slogged through a school and work filled summer in order to take myself on the trip of a lifetime.  First I’m visiting friends in Japan, then more friends in Hawaii and finally San Diego, California where sun, fun and family await.  A well deserved break from the stresses of the office and a nice reward for my academic efforts.

More to come soon!  Hopefully a new job and a few pics from my travels…

Hello world!

Hi! I’m Christa Freas and I am majoring in Communication with a concentration in Public Relations at Mason. I earned my associates degree from Tidewater Community College several years ago and am happy to be back at Mason to make a final push toward my bachelor’s degree.

This blog will allow me to showcase some of my best work and begin to pull together a portfolio.

So, to tell you a little about me….

I work for a defense contract and have approximately 17 years in increasingly significant administrative experience. The last nine years have been spent working for top tier senior executives. The work is rewarding and I am happy to serve, but the job comes with some challenges.

I am looking forward to learning valuable critical thinking and analytical skills and applying some of this new knowledge to my current position, but also in an effort to leverage for differing sets of responsibilities. Personally, I love happy hour, fine dining, camping, yoga, festivals (music, strawberry, wine, anything as long as fest is in the title). I have two cats, not by design, but because it just worked out that way. I live in a shoebox I call an apartment and I can be found spending my Saturdays either at Panera with my laptop and homework, or down at the pool (the primary reason for living in a shoebox is to gain year-round access to this particular delight), again with laptop and homework.

School is my life until I’m DONE!!!

Even Sophie helps out when she can….

Take a look around and let me know what you think.  I am always open to suggestion and as I continue to familiarize myself with this site, perhaps I will find better ways to showcase my growing number of talents.
